The language we use to describe ESG and sustainability content has evolved. Terms that felt precise a few years ago now feel either too narrow or too niche for how the conversation has actually grown. So we are updating our content category taxonomy to better reflect what companies are publishing and what audiences are looking for.
Seventeen categories will be renamed, simplified, or consolidated. A few examples: “Innovation & Technology” is now “AI & Technology.” “Diversity & Inclusion” becomes “Inclusion & Opportunity.” “Responsible Business & Employee Engagement” and “Sustainable Development Goals” both roll up into “Corporate Responsibility.” Contact your Account Manager for the full mapping.
The good news: you don’t need to do anything. All historical content will automatically adopt the new naming conventions. No re-tagging, no migration, no support ticket required.
Beyond cleaner naming, there’s a practical upside for discoverability. More precise, descriptive category labels give large language models better metadata to work with when surfacing content in AI-generated responses. Categories like “Responsible Production & the Circular Economy” or “Socially Responsible Investing” are more semantically specific than their predecessors — which means content published on 3BL is better positioned to be recognized as relevant when someone’s asking an AI tool about those topics.
Clearer categories. Better metadata. Same content, working harder.
